What Is a One-Way Video Interview?
A one-way video interview is a type of assessment where:
The candidate sees a prompt and has a limited amount of time to prepare and record their response.
Each question is timed, and candidates may be allowed multiple attempts (or “takes”) depending on your settings.
Responses are recorded using the candidate’s webcam and microphone.
You receive the recordings as part of their completed assessment and can review them in the assessment dashboard.
What a Video Interview Assessment Looks Like
For the Candidate
The candidate is guided through a hardware setup step (camera, mic, audio).
The interface shows the question, a live video preview, and a countdown timer.
They can see how many takes they have left, and the time recommended for their response.
Once they’re ready, they click Start recording.
After submitting the video, they proceed to the next step or finish the assessment.
For the Recruiter
You define the questions and number of takes.
You view the candidate’s video responses within the candidate profile.
You can share links to the assessment or invite candidates by email or CSV.
